Creative Planet School of the Arts‚ C.A.R.E. Initiative Project Tanzania II has been a project four years in the making. What began as a partnership with the Phil Simon Clinic, where the entire school participated in a performance based fundraising event which raised $40,000, has expanded to include many other facets of humanitarianism and AIDS awareness. CPSOA created a full-length musical production entitled "Mapambano" which further portrayed the plight of AIDS in Africa. CPSOA also partnered with local dance organization Culture Shock Los Angeles to raise much needed funds for a local AIDS clinic in the South Bay. Culminating in a team of CPSOA students traveling to Tanzania to work with victims of the AIDS epidemic this coming February. To prepare for this "journey of a Lifetime," many students recently attended a team building camping trip in Joshua Tree National Park. CPSOA continues to focus on education and philanthropy through the visual and performing arts." |
